On July 8, 2026 at 10 a.m., the Governmental Affairs committee of the New Orleans City Council will meet to discuss Mardi Gras related issues. In a Facebook post by Council President J.P. Morrell, who also serves as the Governmental Affairs committee chairman, the Councilman announced the meeting will focus on the 2025 Mardi Gras season and Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code. Chapter 34 is the section of the New Orleans Municipal Code that contains the bulk of the City’s Mardi Gras ordnances and regulations. As of the time of this post, no agenda or listing of proposed legislative changes have been released to the public.
